Who's Walking With Me?

In less than two weeks, I will be walking once again in the "Weekend To End Women's Cancers" Proceeds going to the Campbell family Institute at The Princess Margaret Hospital. The research at this hospital is amazing. I have attended many recognition events at the hospital, held for walkers. You learn so much, and get to speak with many of the researchers. You really see how your money raised can help.

So who wants to walk with me? or I should say "US". We have an amazing team, "Trade Secrets" ! Sign up now for the 2013, "Weekend". You will have lots of time to train, fundraise, and get to know fellow walkers through the many events held in Toronto for the walk.

I Made It To The Men Of Hope Golf Tournament !

Just wanted to update everyone about a great golf tournament I attended last month in Belleville. I blogged about it last year, and finally participated this year. I haven't golfed in a while, but I had a great time.

Raising awareness and resources for survivors of childhood victimization, The Men Of Hope Golf Tournament Featuring Theo Fluery

I have so many opportunities to participate in all the charity events I blog about, but this one is really one of my favorites. I met great people, I was educated on the cause, and made some new friends. I hadn't met anyone in person before this day (Just thru twitter and Face book) and I had a warm and friendly welcome from all. Everyone worked so hard to pulled off this event. Lee Ferrill co-ordinated the tournament, and had great people helping him. I met NHL players, alumni, and pro boxer George Chuvalo and his wife Joanne. Theo Fluery, such a great person and inspiration with all her has done in life. Golfed with Jim Thomson (NHL Alumni) and his son James. Became great friends with Kristina Yeomans, who supported and recruited many players to the tournament. Paulie O'Byrne and Todd Holt who raise awareness for this great cause, and put their "ALL" into helping others.

I will be sure to golf again next year with this wonderful and dedicated group of people.

Weekend To End Women's Cancers

I just love this event. This is my fourth year being involved in the walk for women's cancers. Proceeds benefit the Princess Margaret Hospital here in Toronto ! They do amazing things at this hospital,and I am proud to be apart of it. This weekend I held a fundraising event for the walk, and I wanted to share some pictures.
I arranged a ladies night out, of pole dancing lessons. We had a great time. Pizza, wine, cupcakes, and pole dancing lessons! It was a great night of giggles. Thanks to everyone who attended and contributed to make my event so successful. I am looking forward to a great weekend of walking with so many wonderful people!!!

Heart House Hospice's staff and volunteers are relentless in their dedication to provide support and comfort to clients dealing with a terminal-illness. They provide a wide range of services that will be beneficial to the client and their loved ones during their end-of-life journey. They customize the services to meet the needs of the clients. They provide services in the patients home and offer emotional and practical support to their clients. They are such a great organization, please support their events, as they are amazing.

Theo Fleury's 2nd Annual Men Of Hope Golf Tournament

Oh yes, its that time again to get involved in Theo Fleury's 2nd Annual Men Of Hope Golf Tournament. This great fundraiser raises awareness and resources to help male survivors of childhood victimization find their voice and build better lives with their families.

These two wonderful organizations will be supported through this golf tournament.

The Sexual Assault Centre for Quinte and District (SACQ) has pioneered a one-of-a-kind program for survivors of sexual violence. Funds raised for SACQD will be going towards their well known charity initiative to raise one million dollars for their Residential Healing Facility. The Men’s Project (TMP) is the leading agency in Ontario for public education, training and services for male survivors of childhood victimization. Funds raised for TMP will be going towards their “Men in Healing” program, and their continuing contribution of training mental health professionals around Ontario.

This years tournament will be held at Trillium Wood Golf Club - Belleville, Ontario - Friday, June 22, 2012

Supporting Zack's Dream Room

So many of you have heard Heather Hamilton's story. She truly is an inspiration to all of us. On March 2nd 2011, she lost her son Zack, who was three at the time to a genetic disorder, and heart defect.

Through social media we followed her story and emotions while going in and out of the hospital with Zack. We all felt like we knew Heather and her wonderful family. Her husband, and two other sons,( Zack had a twin). It was heart breaking to hear about Zack, and at the same time tears of happiness from everyone showing their support.

I finally got to meet Heather last fall at one of her great fundraisers for Zack. What a wonderful woman! Heather started fundraising for Zack, when she was contacted by nurses at the York Central hospital. They were going to be renovating rooms in the hospital, and wanted one dedicated to Zack !! What a wonderful idea, The room is coming along great through Heather's efforts. The room is "Elmo" themed, Zack's fav. and through fundraising was been able to supply so much for the room, even special beds.Now to help the room progress, I am asking for your help.

On March 18th, 2012, an exclusive screening of "Being Elmo, A Puppeteer's Journey" event is being held, as a fundraiser for Zack's dream room. I know my friends and readers are not all in the Toronto area, but there are options to help.

Chair Affair Gala

Mississauga Furniture Bank is holding a great fundraiser for their organization.

The Mississauga Furniture Bank recycles gently used household furnishings from individuals and corporate donors by providing it free of charge to their clients which includes women and children, refugees and the homeless.

The fundraiser is the Chair Affair Gala. A great showcase of beautiful hand painted chairs for sale, by local artists. The event is being held at the Living Arts Centre in Mississauga on Wed June 6th, 2012 from 6:30 pm to 10:00 pm.

PROJECT MACFRICA

Oh, people, this is a wonderful organization, and what a great idea.
I love working with so may charities, and events that help others. Through my wonderful contacts on social media, I have been connected to another. Thanks to my friends Lisa McDonald and Diane Morgan, I have been connected to Matt Scobel. Matt had a great vision to help orphans in Africa, where his sister was working. He was working as a consultant for Mac at the time, and wanted to help them by distributing used Mac Computers to the children at the orphanage. He created their first computer lab in June 2010, and 40 orphans were given a great opportunity.

Now Matt is heading back to Africa in March, to establish a second Mac computer lab. This lab will be located in the newly constructed All-Girls Agape in Action High School in Kamakuya, Kenya. The new high school will be home to over 300 girls who will benefit from having access to a full-time computer lab. In addition, the Project Macfrica team will be providing maintenence and upgrades to the previous lab in Eldoret, Kenya.

For this second trip to Africa, Project Macfrica will be hosting a great event on Feb 18th 2012.
